SPARKS Summer Internship for High School Students in NYC

Accurise hosted three New York City STEM students from Brooklyn Technical High School for a three-week educational program in July of 2025. The internship was a deep dive into the dynamic world of construction consulting.

The students learned the fundamentals of planning and scheduling large-scale construction projects and gained real-world insight into how complex buildings are brought to life. They also learned what it takes to run a successful business, sharpen their professional presence, and to build confidence in presenting ideas.

Each student selected one of our current projects, which they 3D modeled and printed. They also developed scheduling, logistics, and cashflow forecasting for their projects. While the original request was for each of them to independently present their work at the end of the internship, they collaborated so well that they formed a their own company (OWL Consulting) through which they presented their projects to Accurise staff.

While the interns spent most of their time in Accurise's Park Avenue office, they also joined senior staff for meetings on nearby jobsites. With the Museum of Modern Art only a few blocks away, the interns were treated to a day at the museum to tour the galleries and to see the Down to Earth installation, which showcased design projects by a new generation of architects who have demonstrated how the design of the built environment can help foster resilient communities, mitigate the impact of climate change, and reestablish connections with nature. And finally, the internship was wrapped up with a celebratory lunch to congratulate the students on their presentation and to thank them for making the inaugural internship a big success.

We are already looking forward to next summer internship: In 2026, we will enroll three New York City high school-aged candidates who have a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) background, and:

  • an interest in how things are designed and built, virtually and physically
  • a creative and curious mind that likes to solve problems and visualize information
  • a recommendation from the student’s guidance counselor
