Powerhouse Arts is a 180,000 not-for-profit manufacturing facility in Gowanus, Brooklyn. This unique project transformed a neglected industrial complex on a contaminated lot into a cultural hub on a Superfund cleanup site. Powerhouse Arts hosts a community of artists, fabricators, and educators who create and share artistic practices vital to the wellbeing of artists and their communities and continues the industrial legacy of the location. The scope of work included the renovation of the historic Turbine Hall (Grand Hall) into a venue for public assembly and programming, as well as the ground-up construction of the adjacent Boiler House, which houses the organization’s art fabrication facilities.
Accurise Consulting's managing partner John Mouzakitis provided 3D logistics, phasing, baseline schedule development, updates, and worked closely with the subcontractors to help realize this transformative project that is part of the revitalization of the neighborhoods around the Gowanus Canal, which is one of New York City's most ambitious redevelopment projects.
